What the Coffin Dance meme means
The 2020 viral format sets jaunty procession against a doomed outcome; treat the coffin as mock-funeral punctuation for low-stakes failure.
Ghanaian pallbearers in suits carry a coffin, conventionally paired with upbeat “Astronomia” in the viral video.
How the joke works
Slot 1 names the reckless choice or confident plan; slot 2 identifies the doomed thing being ceremonially carried away. The outcome must follow from the setup.
- doomed action / risky setup
- failed object or plan being carried off

- My entire downloads folder.
- I picked the wrong playlist.
- The mailbox is painted red.
The second beat does not identify the doomed thing being carried off or follow from the setup.
Situations it fits
- non-serious tech mishaps
- a doomed attempt
- a plan collapsing after an avoidable choice
- mock funeral for a dead project
When this format does not fit
- Never joke about a real death, tragedy, or identifiable victim.
- Do not make the ending unrelated to the doomed setup.
