Finally! A Worthy Opponent! Meme Template
The dialogue is from Kung Fu Panda (2008). In the scene, Tai Lung sees Po and imagines an epic fight; the joke format pairs a grand declaration of a worthy opponent with an unexpectedly ordinary or mismatched challenge. Know Your Meme documents the quote as a meme/image macro circulating by 2016 and gaining broader English-language attention in 2019. The sheet context misplaces the line during Tai Lung’s escape and confrontation with the Furious Five and Shifu; the scene is his anticipation of meeting Po.

A two-panel Kung Fu Panda still shows Tai Lung reacting to Po, with the film dialogue “Finally! A worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!” already part of the image. The template provides one editable caption field in the wide white band above the stills.
How the joke works
Use the single top slot to identify the unexpectedly formidable, entertaining, or absurdly mismatched “opponent” or challenge. The movie stills and their dialogue supply the dramatic reaction and payoff. Keep the setup short enough to read before the two fixed panels; the humor comes from giving a mundane task, rival, or encounter epic stakes.
- Top setup: name the opponent, task, or challenge Tai Lung is about to treat as worthy; the film stills already provide his two-part declaration.
Caption examples
- THE FINAL BUG THAT SURVIVED EVERY FIX
A stubborn but harmless debugging challenge earns the dramatic anticipation already supplied by the movie dialogue.
- I AM GOING TO WIN
It does not identify a worthy opponent or challenge and lacks the setup that makes the fixed dialogue funny.
Situations it fits
- a surprisingly difficult task or game opponent
- a playful rivalry between mismatched people or teams
- an unexpectedly challenging bug, puzzle, or assignment
- a trivial everyday obstacle exaggerated into an epic showdown
When this format does not fit
- Do not caption the top slot as if it replaces either line already visible in the image.
- Do not describe this dialogue as being said during Tai Lung’s prison escape or fight with the Furious Five; it concerns his anticipated encounter with Po.
- Avoid an ordinary or easy task unless its exaggerated mismatch is the joke.
- Do not frame a real violent threat as a harmless challenge.
