Get A Load Of This Guy Meme Template
“Get a load of this guy” is a catchphrase/reaction format that can draw attention to a witty remark or mock a ridiculous, overconfident, or clueless one. Know Your Meme traces one early widely used visual to Wayne’s World (1992) and records a Ross Geller version posted to 4chan in 2011. This particular asset is the Ross thumbs-up variant. The phrase does not originate as a line from Friends, and the checked sources do not establish that this image is a promotional still or identify its Friends episode. The tone is usually sarcastic or amused, and depends on the target’s claim or behavior being recognizable.

The active 250×250 still shows Friends character Ross Geller, played by David Schwimmer, smiling and raising a thumbs-up. The background is plain and there is no text baked into the image. The catalog provides standard caption bands at the top and bottom.
How the joke works
Use the top slot to quote or summarize the boast, claim, or behavior that deserves attention. Use the bottom slot for the pointed reaction, often the phrase “GET A LOAD OF THIS GUY” or a concise variation. Keep the two lines connected and make the target’s confidence, absurdity, or misplaced certainty clear; Ross’s upbeat thumbs-up adds dry visual contrast.
- Top caption: quote or summarize the claim or behavior drawing attention.
- Bottom caption: deliver the amused or skeptical reaction, often “GET A LOAD OF THIS GUY.”
Caption examples
- I CAN READ THE MENU WITHOUT MY GLASSES
- GET A LOAD OF THIS GUY
The top presents an overconfidently ordinary claim and the bottom uses the recognizable reaction to puncture it.
- I BROUGHT SNACKS FOR EVERYONE
- THANK YOU, THAT WAS THOUGHTFUL
The bottom is sincere praise rather than a skeptical or amused reaction, so the image’s sarcastic format is lost.
Situations it fits
- a wildly overconfident claim that is easy to undercut
- someone explaining an obvious fact as if it were a major discovery
- a boast that sounds unintentionally ridiculous
- a witty remark or amusing display of confidence that merits a reaction
When this format does not fit
- Do not use a bottom reaction unrelated to the claim above.
- Avoid attacking a protected or vulnerable person; target an absurd claim or harmless behavior instead.
- Do not make the top line a plainly reasonable statement with no comic contrast.
- Do not attribute the phrase to Ross or Friends; the phrase predates this image variant and is associated with Wayne’s World as an early visual source.
